Knuckle up and get ready for the latest PlayStation brawlfest from Capcom. Street Fighter EX Plus adds a cool wl polygonal 3D look to the classic game while keeping the fun, basic gameplay that's made the series one of the fighting genre's all-time best.

Over 20 characters ranging from old-schoolers Ken and Ryu/to new fighters Garuda and Skullomania flail their fists in Arcade, Versus, Practice, Survival, Time Attack, and Team Battle modes. Gameplay kicks some serious bootey with easily .performed combos and throws, as well as classic Street Fighter fireballs, dragon punches, and hurricane kicks. EX's graphics are blocky at times, and you can't move in and out of the background like in Soul Blade, but the colorful super moves and the viciousness of each attack will have you and your friends in a rowdy rumble-rage for hours.

Street Fighter EX Plus might not be the best Street Fighter ever, but it's high enough on the list to become a worldwide fight-night favorite. Next time you have a beef with one of your friends, don't take it to a mediator--take it to the streets.

ProTips:

  • Jump kicks are a great way to start combos.
  • When in close, use foot sweeps to both hurt and frustrate your opponent.
  • If you're losing, throw fireballs from a distance to keep your opponent away and nick off precious health points.
  • When the bar under your health meter reaches the first level and a section of it turns from green to blue, you can perform various stun moves. To stun an opponent, tap (MPMK) or (LP LK) or (HP HK).
  • In Team Battle mode, place your best fighters in the first and last positions to give your team the best chance of winning the contest

Graphics

EX Plus adds polygonal characters to the Street Fighter series, and although blocky, they add a sense of realism to the violent collisions of combat.

Sound

The slaps and smacks of hand-to-hand fighting are well represented, but the sometimes mellow music doesn't lit the game's intensity.

Control

Since it's easy to control the different characters, even the greenest fighter will be duking it out like a pro after only a couple of rounds. A greater variation of moves among the characters would have helped EX earn a perfect score-there are too many Ken and Ryu clones.

Fun Factor

Cool combos, new characters, and EX-tremely fun two-player battles make Street Fighter EX a PlayStation fantasy come true for fighting-game fanatics.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is a compilation of fighting games from the Street Fighter series developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Capcom. The collection was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One in May 2018.

Gameplay[edit]

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is a compilation that collects the arcade versions of twelve fighting games from the Street Fighter series:[1][2]

  • Street Fighter:
    • Street Fighter (1987)
  • Street Fighter II:
    • Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991)
    • Street Fighter II: Champion Edition (1992)
    • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting (1992)
    • Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (1993)
    • Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle (1993, Switch exclusive)
    • Super Street Fighter II Turbo (1994)
  • Street Fighter Alpha:
    • Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (1995)
    • Street Fighter Alpha 2 (1996)
    • Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1998)
  • Street Fighter III:
    • Street Fighter III: New Generation (1997)
    • Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Giant Attack (1997)
    • Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike - Fight for the Future (1999)

While playing a single-player mode in any of the twelve games, the player can use save states to save and resume at any time.[2] Four of the games (Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Turbo, Alpha 3, and 3rd Strike) support online multiplayer, including ranked matchmaking.[2] Online lobbies can support up to four players and a player can fight against a CPU opponent while waiting for online battles to be ready.[2] The Nintendo Switch version of the game includes an exclusive eight player tournament mode for Super Street Fighter II that can be played locally with four consoles.[3]

The collection includes bonus features such as a museum to view concept art, pitch documents and facts about each release; a music player to listen to tracks across the series; an interactive timeline that chronicles the series' history; and biographies that provide background information, stories, sprite art and animations for characters in the series.[4]

Development and release[edit]

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Capcom.[1][5] To provide minimal latency in online play, the development team implemented 'rewind' technology and allowed players to adjust their own input latency via an in-game menu.[2]

Capcom announced the collection in December 2017 at the finals of the Capcom CupStreet Fighter tournament.[5] The collection was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One on 29 May 2018,[2][6] although it was delayed in Japan to address fan feedback.[7] A digital copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV is included with pre-orders of the PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One versions of the collection.[6] The collection does not include enhanced home releases of the games, such as Street Fighter II HD Remix or Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.

In Japan, the compilation is known as Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection International. In addition to the international version of each game, it also features the Japanese versions.[8]
