Excel
Here is my issue - I have a massive registration spreadsheet that used the VLOOKUP function to pull data from various sheets and tabs, but wanted to clean up the sheet to get rid of the 'N/A' clutter in fields where there were no data returns. When I tried to copy/paste or drag the amended formula, I couldn't prevent excel from changing the range of the lookup array. So, I then attempted to do a find/replace, replacing the first half of the formula up to where the number does change, with the intent of then changing the back half of the formula from the place where the number does change. However, excel wouldn't let me do that, because the interim entry was not a complete formula.
Here is an example:
This is what I have now:
=VLOOKUP(A2,Entries!$A$2:$B$2001,2,FALSE)
I want to replace it with this:
=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(A2,Entries!$A$2:$B$2001,2,FALSE)),' ',(VLOOKUP(A2,Entries!$A$2:$B$2001,2,FALSE)))
The only item that changes in the formula as you move down the spreadsheet is the number immediately after the 'A' in the original formula, so in the replacement formula that number would need to change in both of those positions - i.e. the looked up cell, but not the array designator.
Is there a shortcut for either properly copying/pasting or dragging the formula down the column so that the lookup cell changes properly, but the cell designations in the array stay constant, or for accomplishing the same thing using find/replace?
